most desktop computers will work just fine - the usual problems are the wifi and graphics devices - wifi is relatively inexpensive and easy to replace - the graphics device is a bigger concern; but the generally will work out of the box, albeit without 3D acceleration - the only new desktops ive seen lately that look to be troublesome are the "ryzoms"
