hi
I really wish I could jump in and support this project financially — honestly, I love the idea behind Mission:Libre and what it’s trying to do for young people and free software activism. But coming from Iraq, that part is… let’s say a bit of a “404: Funds Not Found” situation. 😅 Direct donations or consistent funding support are pretty much very difficult here for most people. Still, I don’t think that should be the end of the road. If money is hard to get, maybe there are other ways to keep this going strong: - Open up micro-volunteering roles (social media, translation, outreach) so people worldwide can contribute time instead of money - Look into partnerships with universities or tech communities that might sponsor educational initiatives - Create a “mentor network” where experienced free software contributors guide the project informally I genuinely think Mission:Libre has a strong idea behind it — it just needs a funding approach that doesn’t rely too heavily on traditional donation streams, especially in times when everything feels economically tight. Wishing you the best of luck — and hoping the project finds the support system it deserves.

Hello everyone,

If you don't know me, I'm the organiser of Mission:Libre, a project to help 11
to 14-year-olds everywhere become free software activists. You can find out
more at missionlibre.org

I'd like to do even more than I have already; I think Mission:Libre will be an
important contribution to free software. But I need funding so I have time to
do anything.

Over the past two years I've tried everything I can. But raising money for free
software activism is hard when the economy is good; right now, it's almost
impossible. I've struggled to get anything at all.

The situation being what it is I need someone with real knowledge and
experience to work closely with me over a period of time to build a fundraising
strategy, help me find opportunities and carry out a plan.

I understand this is a significant ask. But this is what Mission:Libre needs.
The help I get will be repaid with dedicated work for software freedom.

If you are interested in helping me, or know someone who can, please e-mail me.

Mission:Libre's situation is complicated. Mine is even more so. If you respond,
expect me to be quite open about my personal history. Please make sure you're
comfortable with that before messaging me.

Thanks.

- Carmen
