Subject: 2.5 to 3.5 pin connection

I want to transfer an image of my old 3.2 gig hard drive to my new 12 gig hard drive
through my desktop. I have already used IBM's ontrack to get the L50 to recognize the
entire drive. My problem is that the 12 has more pins than the 2.5 jumper has sockets.
I have heard people have fried hard drives by making the incorrect connection and now
I'm nervous. I know that the 3.5 to 2.5 connector is ok because the shop used it to
make my old hd a slave drive to the desktop.

After the connection is made, do I just have to go to the desktop bios setup program
to get it to detect the new hdd?
