Subject: Re: Opening Lib display (50ct)
I've just had to take a couple of displays to bits recently...from memory:
Remove the keyboard, battery, expansion ram, and display connector
Remove the seven (?) screws that hold the two halves of the case together
and unpop the plastic latches (careful) - now you should have the thing in
two halves.
On the display, remove the two grey plastic strips on the lower front of the
facia - if you lift them carefully with a scalpel you can reuse them if you
keep the sticky bits clean - and remove the two screws under them. There are
*two* screws on the left hand side, *one* on the right...you want the left
side screw furthest from the edge.
After that you should be able to pop the plastic apart. Once again, be
careful, the top catches are very fragile (near the latches).
The connector ribbon doesn't look as if it will fit through the hole
provided: there's a plastic insert in hinge edge which pops out from inside
to make a bigger hole, which will let you slide the coiled up bit of ribbon
off the hinge pin and ease it through.
You should then be able to undo the screws holding in the inverter
electronics (left hand side) and the mouse/leds/power switch (right hand
side) but be careful to note how the mouse assembly comes apart - two
screws. Then there are about four or five small bronze coloured screws
holding the display in. When you've removed these you can lift all the
insides out at once - the ribbon goes everywhere!
Good luck!
Neil
