Subject: OSs installation and problem
Hi everyone,
So I finally obtained the L70 from my friend :).
It comes with both the big/small docking stations,
a PCMCIA floppy drive, a PCMCIA SCSI CD-ROM drive
and a PCMCIA 33.6K modem.
Ah, so that first thing that I would like to do
is to reformat the drive and install either Win98
or Linux (pls. see my earlier mail). But that
where I got stuck!
1. For Win98, I created a boot disk. But the
boot disk of course will not allow me to
see the PCMCIA CD-ROM. I have tried the
Pioneer CD-ROM driver, but it still doesn't
work. Can anyone out there help me out
with a boot disk that will enable the PCMCIA
SCSI CD-ROM drive? :)
2. For Linux, I created a boot disk for
Mandrake 7.1 with the pcmcia.img file.
It loaded just fine, but again, I was stuck
after I replied that I will install from
CD-ROM. Mandrake couldn't recognize the
type of CD-ROM I have.
Before I continue explore other ways of installing
OSs, maybe I would like some opinion on the
easiest way to install OSs with both PCMCIA floppy
and CD-ROM attached? Any advice?
Thank you.
Sorry for asking so many questions. I have attempted
to look through the mailing list archive, however
there is no search functionality....so it is very
tedious.
