Trust me on this one: Tosh didn't want anyone but their guys to play with it... *warning* high voltages can exist within the unit *after* the mains has been removed...let it stand for a few minutes at least before playing! The outer shell has four clips, two on each of the long side, which can be prised apart with a thin screwdriver, then the case comes off in two halves. The main unit is shrouded in a thick copper foil which is soldered to the circuit board in two places. It's also soldered shut where it wraps round on itself. You'll need a big soldering iron to get it opened safely (i.e. without melting anything on the other side) as it makes a bloody good heat sink! When you think you've got the solder off it should spring open a bit...but it's still fastened to the next layer in, a plastic insulating wrap, with double sided sticky. You don't need to separate this as it turns out that once the copper sheet is free, everything will slide out of the inner plastic bit with a bit of shaking. Rebuilding is - in the words of the Haynes manuals - a reversal of the above procedure. Use something to keep pressure on the edge of the copper when you resolder it and make sure you fasten it *exactly* where it came off the circuit board. Hopefully you'll never need to do this, but at least now it's in the archives!
