Subject: Slightly off-topic - Unerase.exe and my libb hdd

Just a small question - I wondered if anyone had any experience of Norton Utilities
"unerase.exe" failing to work due to problems with sector translation.

It's just that yesterday was the first time I've tried to use this handy DOS utility
on my Lib, and it proceeded no further than the helpful message "Can't access drive".
I've checked with the symantics web site, and they reckon that this can be caused by
"incorrect sector translation where the computer is using both LBA and Disk Manager,
or another sector translating program, on the same hard disk." and recommended backing
up my data and disabling LBA in the BIOS.

It wasn't really a major problem, as the deleted file was on a floppy disk and unerase
worked on another computer, but it did make me wonder about my hard-drive setup.

I've basically got a 6.4G in my L1050, which I used Partition Magic to divide into a
4G and a 2G drive while it was still in my L70, allowing a bit more space at the end
for the greater RAM in the 1050. It has run with no problems for about 8 months, but
if anyone had any idea about the sector translation problem, it would ease my mind a
little.

Cheers,

Simon
