Subject: Serious Problem With 1100v

Hello Folks -

I bought my 1100v from Dynamism two months ago and I've had nothing but
trouble - I'm hoping that someone can lend a hand. Shortly after getting the
Libretto and setting it up, I began getting blue-screen errors in W98SE,
'Error writing to drive C...' that require a hard reset to recover from. I
was getting the machine ready for a long trip, so, instead of RMA'ing the
machine to Japan, I bought a new drive from Dynamism (20GB) and had them
install it. It came back, and, again, these errors continue. The drive
mechanism itself isn't the problem - two new hard disks give the same
problem - I've run exhaustive sector tests overnight with no problems found.

The problem seemed to be related to W98 or some other hardware. I consulted
Microsoft's TechNet and found an article that seemed right on point, and
made the workaround changes to PCI steering that it recommended, but the
errors continue. In the article I found, they mentioned that the problem is
manufacturer related - and a problem with some manufacturer's implementation
of BIOS PCI steering.

After reading some users here discussing BIOS and the 1100v, I figured I'd
ask where to find the BIOS update that was mentioned. The current BIOS
revision on my machine is 7.2 - is there an update? Can someone point me in
the right direction to find the update? Anyone have any other thoughts on
this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Stacey
