toshiba has not released its grip yet on the repair or service of libretto
parts.  Trust me, I just called to inquire about a replacement motherboard
and they wanted $500 + your motherboard for a replacement.  However if
your libretto screen went black you may still be in luck.  Most likely
your inverter for the backlight went out.  To check this, just hold it up
to a light and turn on the computer.  You should see Windows 95/98 logo or
whatever you have.. If it works then your inverter is out.  Take apart
your notebook.  Be careful, the inverter generates 1000v or more.  Just
remove the 2 wires from the lcd side and the ribbon cable going to the
motherboard.  Replace and you should be on your merry way.  I dunno how
much an inverter will go for.  Maybe $100 or maybe less.
