1. Get rid of all startup programs, virus checkers, TSR's, and other background
programs first before testing.  You can disable/remove them temporarily.

   All of these will bog the system down and gobble up RAM.  If you don't have
enough RAM due to too many programs running at once, it's either a memory
upgrade or fewer running programs. (or a faster Libretto)

2. Use Winamp.  It works just fine and should on yours.

3. Load up a MP3 file and play on this Windows running only configuration.  
   It should run w/o problems.

4. Run system monitor in the Start->Program_>accessories->system tools folder
(or load it up in Control Panels -> add/remove programs -> windows programs). 
Find out if you have at least 70% CPU free time when you are doing absolutely
nothing at all on the Libretto.  If there are other programs running , it'll
bring the free CPU time down and you'll have to kill those programs.

5. Try defragging the HD.
