Subject: 3.27G HDD on L50CT Problem ! help!
Is anybody using IBM Travelstar DKLA-23240 HDD which is 3.24G on Libretto
50CT?
I was trying to install it but it didn't go well. PLEASE HELP ME
After I connect my HDD on to connector, I was tryng to FDISK it, it found
HDD and
I chose to have two partition one giga byte for drive C and rest of space
for drive D.
I made primary, extended and logical partition. then rebooted lib. then use
format c: /s
on drive C and format d:. it formatted without error except it has bad
MBR(Master Boot Record)
when I check partition status, partition type was FAT12 for drive C and
unknown for D.
Also when I tried Disk Manager to go around old-BIOS problem (I suspected
this as a problem)
I got message that MBR are being redirected to another record.
I tried low level format, but it didn't work either.
Now, I'm suspecting that this redirecting MBR is due to BIOS preservation
for hibernation.
I also tried to use fips.exe to go around this problem, it says that my MBR
is ok but it
can not find the FAT32 signiture from the HDD then it terminate.
If some one has knowledge about this matter, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!
