While 3Com licenses the chipset design to the laptop/docking station manufacturers, 3Com doesn't provide any kind of technical support/RMA support for the end users. Should something go wrong/not work, the laptop/docking station manufacturer is responsible for making things right with the end user. Same thing applies to the docking station chipsets, graphics, usb controller, etc., etc. If you have problems with any of those devices embedded in the docking station, you would go through the manufacturer of the docking station to get it taken care of. Same thing with the onboard NIC. Good luck with your notebook manufacturer/docking station manufacturer.
