Subject: RE: L100CT motherboard
hello Ken,
thanks by your answer.
The symptons are the following:
The charge of battery appears
The power is available (AC adapter)
When I try a boot it does nothing
I dont know if the speaker is turned off
I dont know where is the reset pin
I have been researching on several Integrated Circuits of the motherboard,
and I have
found one that it is not working correctly.
It is a CY2278A-4L (Cypress Semiconductor Corp.) and it is a Pentium II
clock synthesizer/driver for mobile PCs with Intel 82430TX and No SDRAM.
It has several clock outputs working correctly (PCI_CLK,USB_CLK...), but I
dont see the 66.67 MHz CPU clock at the output.
Im no sure if replacing this IC the motherboard will work correctly again.
Regards,
Antonio Sevillano

Where there any dramatic event in the life of your L100 *just before* it
stopped working?
What are the symptoms you are encountering:
Have you tried multiple power sources - including different batteries?
Does it appear to charge the battery?
Does it properly indicate power is available (AC adapter)?
Does it do anything when you try and boot?
Did you have the speaker turned off - one way a bad I/O device is
flagged
on powerup is by a series of beep codes - when the unit worked?
Have you tried reseting the unit - apply power, press power switch and
stick
a pin in the small reset hole (location on an L100 unknown)?
Please provide as much information as possible - I hope your problem can be
diagnosed that way - I suspect that repairing an L100 motherboard may not be
practical (size, density, etc.) - I suspect that the MB is considered
non-repairable by Toshiba, it is probably simply swapped out for these types
of problems...
Sorry,
Ken
(Whose L110 is acting a bit hinkey as well - but I suspect the
OS/application software. Outlook Express has frozen on me several times,
requiring a power cycle to regain control of the system. Damn Win98...)
