at 9.5 mm you should be fine - I simply had to push a bit harder than normal
to squeeze a 3.2 Gig 9.5 mm drive into my L50. And since my L110 came with a
4 Gig HD, I have not had a reason to upgrade it (yet), but it is designed
for 9.5 mm drives.

For the L50, the suggestion from most is to simply loosen the case screws to
give you room to insert the drive, then tighten up the screws/case.

My low-priced drive is destined for my new toy, a Portege 650ct I got off
ebay for $180 + $16 S/H, a P133 w/32 Meg RAM, 1.3 Gig HD and an 11.3" TFT
800x600 display. I got the drive for $69, a drive tray/sled for $15, and S/H
is under $10 - not a bad little upgrade, IMHO.

I just with the 64 Meg RAM upgrade was less than $150 :^(
