Toshiba's power management utilities for its laptops are 16-bit programs, which often
conflict with Windows's power control. These conflicts are even worse under Windows
98. One of the hassles is that your laptop can not go to sleep reliably. For example,
you set you Libretto to go sleep (or hibernation) in 15 minutes, but it won't
sometimes. Another problem, far more serious, is that they cause more crashes.

So it is good to use Windows 95/98's own power management solely. However, Windows
95/98 can not control the brightness of the LCD screen. This is too bad, because
reducing LCD brightness is the most effective method to allow the battery last
significantly longer between recharges. And the screen looks gentle, especially while
in your dark bedroom, which is really good for your eyes.
