Subject: AW: I don't suppose anyone's made a brightness control util for W
Note:
There are 2 Versions of "Toshiba Power Management Extensions" for Win2k
available:
- Version 1, which adds a battery- or or power cable-icon to the system tray
(only if selected!). This version is more suitable for the Lib in my
opinion. There are only 2 small limitations: the driver supports 8 steps of
brightness, the hardware only 4. The second limittion is, that switching the
profiles from the tray icon does not work correct. You must switch it from
the Power Management control panel.
Of course it ist possible to create several profiles.
- Version 2 seems to be designed for newer Toshiba notebooks. It introduces
the "hairy light bulb" in Win2k. I have tested it, but I found a lot of
limitations (which I have forgotten in detail) in combination with a Lib, so
I throwed it away... (the driver, not the Lib!)
I found all drivers in several different Languages at
http://support.toshiba-tro.de/win2000/2000update.htm
There are 5 Win2K drivers available on this page:
- "Toshiba Value added Logical Device": I don't know what ist is, but you
will need it!
- "Toshiba Value added Logical Device Special": I don't know what it is.
It does not work on the Lib, but you will not miss it! It seems to be for
other Toshiba models.
- "Toshiba Power Extensions 1": see above
- "Toshiba Power Extensions 2": see above
- "Toshiba Utilities": Install it, it contains the hardware control panel.
regards
Gerhard
