Subject: Off topic:LCD display problems

Speaking of off-topic, my girlfriend has an old acer laptop (an acernote "light" 370PC
to be exact, although I think its lightness claim is probably relative to a
mainframe). Anyway, the LCD display (for which I never did find the right monitor
driver), has started having a number of light vertical lines which extend from the top
to about half-way down the screen.

I can cause them to temporarily disappear by flexing the screen correctly, so I
suspect it's a cabling thing in the lid, but before I attempt to pull the lid apart
and probably stuff the whole thing (As my ever-trusting girlfriend currently expects),
I thought I should check for alternate plans. So - any ideas?

Simon
