Thanks for the input Konrad.  Sounds like I should give this a shot.  
Should I try a uniform layer of thickness, or am I going to have to try 
the specific spots that have bad contact?  Also, are there any extremely 
high voltages in an LCD display, or is that only for regular monitors?  
(will I be risking life-and-limb, or just my laptop?)
