Subject: Autoexec.bat and config.sys files empty!!!
The saga continues.... (I recently reformatted my hard-drive and reinstalled
win95 to my Libretto 100CT) - all was going well until, it seems, I decided
to install some new AV software. I purchased McAfee VirusScan Deluxe (have
used VirusScan before) - the package also came with FirstAid program.
VirusScan worked fine but when I opened FirstAid and let it <check> my
hardware the program got stuck (whilst "looking for modem drivers").... I
had to kill it and then started to get blue screen warnings after my next
reboot (e.g. INVALID VXD DYNAMIX LINK CALL FROM C10DF784 TO DEVICE "3FAO"
SERVICE 801B...). I subsequently uninstalled it and ,at advice of McAfee
support, looked in my Sysedit file to check no stray FirstAid components...
whilst doing this I noticed that the autoexec and configsys windows were
EMPTY....
At time of writing my lib APPEARS to be working but I am deeply worried
about the fact that those files have no instructions in them.... maybe the
McAfee software issue was coincidence but I dont know.
