Yes, you should be able to. That's the point of all these memory to IDE
adapters/devices. The one I linked to earlier converting a CF card to IDE was
actually publised in Embedded Linux magazine, and they were able to boot from
it and run Linux off the CF card just like and IDE HD.
You'll certainly benefit from lower power consumption, no noise, no shock or
vibration worries, no overheating to worry about, etc.
Expensive, but certainly worth investigating for the show-off factor.
