Eric,

Yes this is the right place :)

They do indeed use the standard connector. Drives of up to 20G have been
installed. There is a long list of known compatible drives on David's site
at http://www.silverace.com/libretto/

The only things you need to worry about are:

o Some drives will not work if the bus speed has been increased (the most
common form of clocking 50/70s)

o 50/70 machines don't see more than 8.4G through the bios and need an
external driver to manage the drives (e.g. onTrack, IBM, or Linux, W2K)

o Occasionally people come across drives which fail to be recognised, due to
operating by default in cable select mode, and require a modification on the
drive (pin 28 of the IDE connector to ground, IIRC, but check first - it
*will* void the disk warranty.

o Maximum height (thickness) of 9.5mm (requires plastic spacers removing
from inside the back panel in 50/70 case)

On a secondary point: The libretto permanent floating beer club will be in
San Francisco and the San Joaquim valley area mid-September. This is an
attempt for me to meet libretto users wherever I happen to be travelling and
buy beer with/for them. Noting your posting address, you are cordially
invited!

Neil
