hi dudes - i don't think this is libretto-specific, but i'm pulling my hair out and thought i'd run this past all of you. i have win2k sp2 running on my trusty ol' Libretto 110. up until mid-august, i was able to boot it onto my company's LAN, get a DHCP address, and surf the Internet. Round about August 22 or so I added it to a two-machine workgroup with my 1100v to transfer some MP3's. i didn't use it on a network anywhere till yesterday, when i needd to download an application for the web for a class i'm teaching. the DHCP assignment is successful - i get a valid address for my PCI ethernet card. i can connect to anything on my local network, but as soon as i try to get outside the corporate perimeter, the connection bombs. telnet and SSH say "connection closed." internet explorer gives an error "no page to download" - despite the fact that i can use all those connection mechanisms from the desktop machine sitting right next to the Libby. here's what we've tried: - different ethernet PCI card - got new IP address, no difference in behavior - completely uninstalled TCP/IP and re-installed - re-installed SP2 the only other thing that changed is that i added the DVD PCI card and drive to the system, but neither of those components is attached to the laptop while i am having these problems. when i look at the network traffic from my firewall, packets are flowing to and from the libretto, but the libretto doesn't seem to know what to do with them. has anyone ever seen this sort of behavior before? i have to go to a short meeting, but will be beating my head against this brick wall (and the MS knowledge base) within an hour. flippin heck. help vastly appreciated. tbird LogAnalysis: http://kubarb.phsx.ukans.edu/~tbird/log-analysis.html VPN: http://kubarb.phsx.ukans.edu/~tbird/vpn.html life: http://kubarb.phsx.ukans.edu/~tbird work: http://www.counterpane.com ************************************************************** http://libretto.basiclink.com - Libretto mailing list http://libretto.basiclink.com/archive - Archives http://www.picante.com/~gtaylor/portable/faq.html - FAQ -------TO UNSUBSCRIBE------- Reply to any of the list messages.
