Hi all! Is anyone familiar with conventions as far as Toshiba battery packs go? I recently discovered that one of the big corporate suppliers here clears out old stock every quarter, I picked up a 10.8V 2.4AH LiIon pack for a Portege 300 for about $15AUD (about $7USD) with the intention of using the cells to replace those in one of my dying battery packs but when I got it, I found out that the connector at the bottom is identical to that for the Libretto! Externally it looks identical to the extended Libretto pack, the only difference is that the connector itself is displaced to the left by about 1cm ... anyone wanna rate my chances of being able to adapt the pack itself to the libby? I'm considering (once my oldest pack dies) to cut the back half off that pack, cut the back of this pack and put the back of the Libby pack onto the back of this Portege pack, keeping the Portege pack's electronics. Also, whilst I was there I picked up an 'PowerXtend Airplane & Auto Adapter' power conditioner and voltage booster for the same price. Anyone familiar with the pinouts of these things ... it uses a standard DIN connector (identical to a MIDI connector) supplying through it a variety of regulated voltages up to 24 volts? Alternatively by any chance is anyone familiar with the pinout of the power connector on the DEC HiNote Ultra 2000 or where I might find details on this laptop? (needless to say the Compaq website is less than useful). The adapter I've got has a flylead (one end has that DIN connector, the other end has a weirdo laptop connector) for that DEC laptop (which is probably why it was cleared out, the same unit does support the Libby50CT though). Alternatively, does anyone know what the chances are that the power regulator in this thing is just a plain one voltage per pin type (the device has 5 pins plus shield and is rated for 5 to 24 volt output at 6.5A, I can imagine a ground, 5, 12, 15 and 24 volt outputs which would fit virtually every laptop I know of) in which case I just get a multimeter and figure out the 15V and ground lines and I'm fine?
