For the future, you may want to get on 3COM's mailing list, preferably as a IS manager of a big 'virtual' company. They usually have mailers or promos going out now and then where you can respond to to get on these lists. If you're fortunate like me, you'll get sent freebies. eg. had an Xjack 10/100+56Kb Type II and a 10/100+56Kb Type III card sent for free just for responding to their mailers. Naturally, not having a need for two such cards, simply hawk them on ebay for moola, keeping one just for curiosities sake. (Of course, both work great. The Type III all-in-one card w/o dongles (that ugly blue card) works nicely in a Portege 3xx series, and the modem connection rates are about as good as can be had with any modem. Perhaps even better than the Xjack model since there are no moving parts at all, and as a plus, the connector lies flat vs. the Xjack where it must bend at 90 degrees to insert into the connector.) Naturally, all of these items can be kept, or smartly sold on Ebay for moola.) In any case, check prices with www.shopper.com for price comparisons and www.ebay.com for completed auction prices on the 10/100+56Kb cards before you buy. You never know .. there may be an even better price to be had. (eg. Franklin Rex Pro 5 personal PDA cards for $20 easy.
