Hmm. I guess they must mount the iso as a loopback device so they can read 
it. Oddly - I tried to the same in reverse: I had an iso which wanted to be 
in directory format: had to mount it as loopback, then copy all the revealed 
directories, then do the installation. But that was a few generations ago!
