Try these pages. They are about someone doing essentially the same thing you
are planning.

Ken Kifer wrote a few messages on the subject in the Libretto list back in
the spring of 2000. He also recommended this page:

Try these pages of the archives for some of Ken's messages:

I hope this helps.

Subject: Raymond's Solar Reply

Would "brownout" occur due to lack of Voltage or lack of
Amperage.

I plan on charging most of the day, with minimal use in the
evening.

There exist bike mountable units which could supply as much
as 20 Watts at 15 Volts in direct sunlight. This would
charge a Lib as per a mains transformer. However, what
troubles me is that the Power fluctuation inherent may cause
the lib circuitry to reject a diminished supply
current/voltage. This would not be a problem in itself, but
would be a problem if prolonged exposure to Power
fluctuation damaged either circuitry or battery.

Can anyone recommend a solar guru? Will anyone give me Bill
Cotten's address?

Thanks
Dan
