Thanks Raymond - spot on, mission accomplished!

For anyone else who does not use this feature but still has the driver in
place, this is what I found:
First, I timed the boot process - 31 seconds from hitting return after the
BIOS password, to when my wallpaper hits the screen.
I am indeed Win'98ing so next I ran msconfig and there it was right at the
bottom when I scrolled down the contents of the config.sys tab.
Unchecked it, and re-booted.
Finally, checked my 'new' boot time twice - 28 seconds...  :-)
I guess it's also possible to see the effect on system resources, but I've
not looked into this.
