Yes it is, but it's not afaik possible to do it the obvious way. If you have 
a large disk with a windows partition, copy the entire mandrake cd there and 
make a start disk (it's in the dosutils directory, there's a readme) to with 
the hd image.

This works for M7 and 7.1 on a 50 with 32M but not, for some reason, on a 
70. It should work on all the l;ater ones.

The easiest way is to install the disk in a desktop and load mandrake there 
- you can do the graphical installation which allows selection of the 
reiserfs and that imho is essential on a portable. Let kudzu and diskdrake 
get rid of all the bits it doesn't need, and make sure you install the svga 
driver for X.
