Heya, I suspect this one is for Christian or Paul or whoever - it's beyond my competence. I'm playing with the linux bios control at http://club.pep.ne.jp/~ishioka/Software/Linux/libapm/ and so far have managed to get the text apm control working - though only as root, which is a pain. The documentation tells me that as I've installed it, anyone should be able to run it, but that doesn't work. There's also a tcl (I think) script which should give a graphical interface for X - but it bombs out with an error from the libapm package, again complaining that only root can use it. This looks awfully like a permissions thing...what I'd like to do is set the libapm to run a root irrespective of user, but I can't find a way...if I tru setuid or seteuid it doesn't change the uid. I'm stuck for a while...any thoughts gratefully accepted! Cheers, Neil (36C - bloody hot today) _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com ************************************************************** http://libretto.basiclink.com - Libretto mailing list http://libretto.basiclink.com/archive - Archives http://www.picante.com/~gtaylor/portable/faq.html - FAQ -------TO UNSUBSCRIBE------- Reply to any of the list messages.
