I was wondering what all you've tried James. I went back and read through this thread, and it seems you've checked: 1. Drive boot order: FDD > HDD 2. Install new bios: v6.6 and then down a version to v6.5 3. Perhaps have disconnected the CMOS battery, and left the unit either overnight, or a few hours to clear CMOS. I'm not familiar with Libretto CMOS, but some MBs have pins to put a jumper onto to do a fast clearing of the CMOS. Otherwise I'm not certain how long a Libretto tasks to clear the CMOS by disconnecting te battery. Have you tried anything else? I was wondering about going back to the original BIOS v6.2 the 50CTs originally shipped with. I'm dealing with what I think may be an BIOS issue on my 70CT. But I don't see anything in the list of issues each 50CT BIOS revision addressed that sounds like it'd help you: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_dtlViewDL.jsp?soid=106306&moid=1073769618&BV_SessionID=@@@@0629673275.1012452091@@@@&BV_EngineID=gadcddgemhklbfekcghcfmfdgli.0&ct=DL So going back to v6.2 may not help. But I read in the list archives, or somewhere, some problem that was fixed by going back to BIOS v6.2 on a 50CT. I just can't remember what it was all about. I'll post another note on my suspected BIOS problems. > If you can get it to work with another drive, more power to >you. Otherwise it will be good for parts as everything else was working >well and was in good condition before I started fooling around with the >hard drive. Includes manuals (plus Maintenance Manual), original software, >floppy drive, AC adapter, brand new CMOS battery installed etc. Well... what I'd like to get my hands on is just the upper and lower case halves (sans working LCD) for a 70CT. I have a tiny crack on the back HDD side that's basically just a cosmetic blemish. But if I could get a good price for the shell, I'd like to replace mine at some point.
