In general, from what I've tested, two programs stand out for stability and just works: 1) AMD Refridgerator. Very small program, so compact, takes almost no RAM or HD space. Excellent and works well. 2) CPUIdle. More CPU monitoring features, tray icon, but otherwise, does the exact same thing as #1, but you have to pay.
