Matt, Win 98 SE boots normally with the microdrive inserted. Verifying the PC Card status (the icon at the right down corner of the screen) it says that the microdrive is there. But verifying MY COMPUTER, no microdrive is shown because no drive letter was assigned. If the microdrive is removed and reinserted, then Win98 SE recognize it, assigning a drive letter. Concerning your problem, could it be a weak battery? Does it happen with wall power? Now I hope that someone can help we both. I have a similar problem with a combo modem on my L70 that's probably a different issue. Does W98 SE fully boot for you with the drive inserted? My problem is that if I boot W98 (not SE) with the modem inserted, the whole system powers off halfway through the boot process. Funny... if I remove the HDD, put in in my L50, and insert the modem, it boots fine.
