L100, not overclocked - W98SE - 20GB IBM 30GN - no Rain, Refrigerator, etc
running - temp sensor ~5 cm within PCMCIA slot cavity

Ambient Temperature: 21°C

Condition #1: Idle with W98SE Desktop, full-power mode (AC), undocked on
wood desk surface. Temperature: 27.8°F

Condition #2: Running Thorough Scandisk, otherwise same as Condition #1.
Temperature: 35.8°C after 18 minutes (Scandisk finished)

Xin Feng's site has had discussions on the effect of the enhanced port
replicator on temperature, and consequent damage to the Lib. The L100 I have
was previously owned by an executive at a local engineering company who,
according to the company tech, ran the Lib docked (EPR) 100% of the time,
unless he was on a road trip. In about 2 years' time, this Lib went through
2 memory modules and 2 hard drives (both Toshibas). These were all installed
by an "Authorized" Toshiba service outlet. I have had zero problems of this
type in a year of ownership, with very infrequent EPR docking. FYI.
