I can see where if you're only processing a couple of graphic images, that it's a certainly lot quicker to use a little app like PicaView that loads quick, and/or works automatically from right-click. But I've had Photoshop v4.0 installed on my 50CT for a couple years, and find that actually loads faster on the L50 w/32MB RAM than v6.0 on a P350 w/120MB! At least with the configurations of each as they are. And once loaded, does most work on Lib/web sized grahics pretty darned quickly. There is so much you can do with Photoshop to enhance graphics beyond adjusting brightness & contrast, hue, sharpness, size, canvas size, resolution, file type, which are some of the basic functions I use on a regular basis. Then there's the batch file capability that lets you rotate a whole folder full of files automatically, as well as set a gamut of processes automatically. It's also really nice to have a history undo feature when doing a lot of touching up, and layers to let you experiment with adding things without altering the base layer. My point again being that a bigger app like this may take a few seconds longer than most to load, but when loaded, works fairly quickly and efficiently on modest sized graphics with far more graphics tools at your disposal if your inclined than smaller ones. At least for people who want to do a bit more touch up work. Even Paintshop Pro does a nice job. Though I admit the little apps are convenient for many processes though. When I was maintaining a website, I used to use GifCon a lot. A really nice, quick little piece of software to make a designated color transparent to make the backgound show through.
