Have got 32MB RAM in both L50 and L70

Yeah... I read that subsequent to writing that.

Well... I tried setting the WavJammer card on the L5O with my Toshiba 6.4
(6.6?) HDD. Seems like that drive was able to record with CoolEdit Pro
without the puh puh puh puh that sounds like an outboard motor over the
music signal using the Hitachi 20GB HDD in the L70 to record.

But I still couldn't get rid of the clicking that shows up in the recorded
signal. I tried all these tweaks CoolEdit help files suggested with no
improvement:

1 Reduce # of buffers from 10 to 3

2 Increase buffers timing from 2 to 8

3 Make virtual memory a fixed value of 40-60MB

4. Add "STACKS=16,512" to config.sys

5. Set <vcache> in system.ini to: MinFileCache=2048 MaxFileCache=2048

6. Set the hard disk priority to "Network Server" and caching to 32K
lookahead (not the default 64K) in Control Panel-System-Performance-File
System.

And I had no luck coming up with any other ideas that were of any help.

Funny though... I DID use input from a portable CD player... but for the
heck of it, I plugged in the new HP M820E CD-R/RW drive into the L50, and
used MusicMatch to play a music CD in it, with the CD-ROM drive's line-out
connected to the audio input on the WavJammer dongle.

With all that going on the little L50, I opened up CoolEdit, and recorded a
test file! Other than the slight clicking (annoying to me) it all went
well.

Now MusicMatch v4.0 is pretty resource intensive. I wonder what the
problems are that people seem to be having with getting MP3s to play on a
L50.
