Never tried SuSE on the lib, mostly cos I could never make it work on the
desktop, which didn't inspire confidence (you know the kind of thing -
couldn't find an NE2000 network card, didn't like the video etc)

(machine CT50 and 70)
Old distributions: Corel 1.3? (from Dummies Guide to Linux)
Installation method: Dos boot from HD, install from HD
Disk: Tosh 3.2G, dual boot with W95
                     (this actually worked rather well)

Old: Mandrake 7.0
Installation: Dos boot from HD, install from HD
Disk: Tosh 3.2G, dual boot with W95

Old/current: Mandrake 7.1
Installation: on 50, as above, on 70, install from CD on desktop
Disk: Tosh 3.2G, Tosh 6G, IBM 20G
(best so far but uses rpm 3 and has old libs :( )

Old: Mandrake 8.1 beta
Installation: install from CD on desktop
Disk: IBM 20G
(turned out to be too slow for comfort)

Investigating: Debian Potato 2.2r6
Installation: from dos boot, install from HD...interesting :)
Disk: Tosh 6G (for now)

Hardware out of the box working:
Psion/Dacom gold card 28.8K modem/10M lan combo
Lynksys 56k modem/10/100M lan combo PCMLM56
Sundry other lan and combo cards

Note - sound in linux is strange and not consistent between installs. Not
yet resolved, to be investigated.

All installations are dual boot with either w95, w98, or dos.
