If you just want to play with LCDs perhaps you might want to go for 
something a little cheaper than a laptop (besides, we all know we shouldn't 
use Libbys as guinea pigs ;-) ... perhaps you could try for an old color 
Windows CE PDA if you wanted to play with that sorta thing, I haven't 
checked but I'd imagine they'd be pretty cheap to pick up on eBay, 
especially those that can't be upgraded to newer versions of WinCE or 
PocketPC ...
