I think Ive discovered how Techos lid power switch plunger got busted off. Ive recently been using the Exact Audio Copy MP3 ripper to convert a bunch of CD tracks with the new Lame encoder. The settings I chose were very high fidelity for playing in a nice high end stereo when I have the opportunity. But tracks are averaging 10-15 minutes to rip. Since the system works for hours to encode the files, I decided to whittle a little wooden plug out of a pencil to stick into the lid switch hole to power down the screen (a technique I thought not too far akin to Neils soldering a coin across a fuse to see if this LCD would work again). But my design wasnt that great, and I had problems getting the prototype to jam in and stay. It would wiggle a little during the process. Then the obvious (to anyone but me) dawned on me. If the top of that little power switch pin got stuck on the end of the wood plug (hey... the pencil was in my hand, and immediate...), and I tweaked the whole deal a bit to the side... SNAP! My bet is that Technos previous owner had something very similar in mind for shutting down power to his lid. 8<0 MH(SR) Off to research improved materials and designs. I'm sure NASA will want one of these. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp. ************************************************************** http://libretto.basiclink.com - Libretto mailing list http://www.silverace.com/libretto/ - Archives -------TO UNSUBSCRIBE------- Reply to any of the list messages.
