When did you purchase the hard drive and was it a Toshiba? I do know that Toshiba has a bad batch of 20 gig laptop hard drives flying round the last month or 3 (they work fine then make a rhythmic clunking sound then die, you take them out and shake them then plug them back in and they start working again for a few hours). To the extent that we've now got a shortage of 20 gig laptop hard drives in Western Australia because of all the laptop hard drives that have needed to be replaced.
