Much as it'll be nice to be able to do this, you're not the first person to have asked this on this list ... unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be possible (or at least that's been the conclusion of previous discussions on the topic). Certainly the physical memory modules weren't produced in any bigger than 16MB for the 50/70 and 32MB for the 100/110 (which of course add to the 16 or 32 already on-board). Given that the system would not have been produced with the ability to add more RAM in mind, it would seem doubtful that even IF a way of adding more RAM was found, that things like suspend-to-RAM and suspend-to-disk would work without some BIOS hacking (which then brings the problem of where to get documentation on the BIOS ... apparently *someone* managed to get some info to get the FDD working under Linux but we've heard nothing further on that lead).Date: Fri, 18 Oct 2002 08:30:54 -0400 From: "Lawrence Fieman" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: [LIB] Max Memory Question What restricts maximum memory? Why does a 50 or a 70 Max out at 32mb, while the 100 and 110 max out at 64mb? It seems that the workaround for this must be far too much trouble and expense. Otherwise I'd see more postings about upgrading maximum memory.
Then there is the other problem of where to get the RAM chips required and how to manufacture a board of suitable dimensions. It's highly doubtful that you could just unsolder the existing chips and replace them with larger ones like you can with less advanced electronics such as graphics calculators and Palm organizers unfortunately :-/
Of course, I'm always hopeful to be proved wrong here, 64MB is *alright* for my L100 but more would be nice ;-)
