Hi there, as far as the battery on the ff1050/ff1100 goes, if you need
to get a replacement one, you can use the ones used in the portege
3010/3015CT (I think that's the model)

ie. PA2457U for normal, and PA2458U for expanded.  The normal one is
slightly smaller than the original, and doesn't match the case as
well, but the expanded battery is the same as the one I was given when
I originally bought the Toshiba (new, from the appropriate LAOX in Akihabara)

So you should still be able to buy batteries, but you can't swap from
existing Libretti.
