Was the battery in the Lib while it was in storage? Not that it really matters, but if it was chances are the battery is dead. Look on eBay, you may find a new one, or look in the archives for how to rebuild one if you want. The battery going dead when unplug from AC, and going to full charge normally means it is dead. Which CD drive do you have? The type of dive makes a big difference in how you install winXP. You might be more happy with win2K than XP. You are short on memory. Also it would be a good idea to charge it for 24 hours or so and see if it will keep the time. There is a battery on the main board that may have died, too. I have heard that this battery may take up to 4 or 5 days to recharge. But what you want is for it to hold a charge for a while with no AC going to it. There are just a few screws to pull, if you want to add a new drive. It won't run on battery. It runs on AC fine, whether in the docking station or not. And while on AC, it reports that the battery is 100% charged. But once unplugged, it dies instantly. I took a voltmeter to the battery compartment contacts , and although I don't know what all the contacts are for I get 3v to 5v between various pairs. And when doing the same to the battery contacts, I get 5v between various pairs too. So my guess is the Lib is charging the battery and the battery is taking a charge. Any ideas?
