Will XP Pro install on to a L100 or does it have to be overclocked
before XP will let it install?

According to the XP documentation, the minimum requirements for XP are a 233MHx CPU, and at >least< 64MB RAM, 128 recommended.

But if you're into taking things apart, the L100 is >very< easy to overclock to 266 by connecting 2 adjacent solder points (see Xin's site at http://www.fixup.net/tips/l100266.htm). This can be done easily by soldering, and yet easier with a connective pen.

So far 99% of the time I've had mine set up like this in the past few days, it hasn't had overheating problems. That happened when I was ripping a CD, and the Lame MP3 encoder was pushing the CPU to the limit where the system shut down from thermal overload. But that was running Win98SE without any CPU idling software, though that may not have mattered. At this point I've ripped a couple more CDs with the XP setup and a fan on the L100, and had no problems at all.
