Somebody knows if the L110 I/O adapter or port replicator have any chip or driver for the USB or its only the connector?. I see at Internet (http://members.jcom.home.ne.jp/e-3/comp/lib03-e.html) that XX? put a USB connector directly in the Libretto SS1000 body , I dont know if the integrated circuit (USB controller ) for the Libretto 110 it s equal to IC of the SS1000 or its other . Thank and sorry for my bad english be patient please . Hernan
I'm almost certain that at least the data lines of the USB port on the port replicator originate from the Libretto ... if you have the workshop manual, have a look at the pinout of the docking connector, there are USBDP/USBDN (data +ve and data -ve) as well as two USB power pins (both appear to be the same however). I've been considering adding USB to my L100 for some time now by tapping into these lines.
There are 2 problems however, only one of which is easily solved.
1: USB power almost certainly gets a boost from the docking station (remember, USB needs to be able to supply up to 500mA). Having said that there are no doubt opportunities to tap a reasonably high current 5V line from somewhere in the Libby to accomodate this.
2: The USB controller appears to only turn on when the docking station is plugged in and powered on (without the docking station, the L100 appears as if it had no USB controller at all). Finding a way of turning the USB controller on in the absence of the port replicator may well be the hardest part of trying to add a USB port to this laptop ...
Of course, if anyone else has any good ideas, do pipe up!
