Subject: How2 remove W2K/XP P&P drivers?

Somehow I managed to set up W2K drivers in XP for my HP M820E CD-R/RW drive. Now XP automatically reinstates them no matter how hard I try to make them disappear so the hardware wizard can point me to the new drivers.

In W98, I could choose from 2 options from one hardware setup window. One to have the system search for the drivers, and one to set them up manually. But so far I haven't found anything like that in XP.

W2K might work the same way as XP is anyone using W2K has faced this problem. A couple of sysops in the CServe NT/XP support forum tried to help by having me disable the "CD-ROM Drivers" in Recovery Console, but came to the end of their suggestions when that didn't work.

So I'm hoping someone here may be able to point the way!

Thanks for any ideas.

Matt
