Subject: Re: [LIB] Off Topic: GPS, Libretto, ...

Here's my setup:
Libretto 110CT, 64MB, 20GB HD(bigger? I keep forgetting), MapPoint 2003, AGPS
(Advanced GPS for Mappoint http://www.techgt.com/agps/), Billionton
CompactFlash GPS unit + PCCMIA compactflash adapter, Win98SE.

Found this to be the best combination after testing various other map software
for the PC - the others were too complex, too slow, not detailed or friendly
enough, etc.

Besides, I =had= to get this setup working for me since I got a free copy of
MapPoint at one of the various free Microsoft seminars =) so, there you go.

It's the best setup I've seen so far for a PC, and I love how nice it is. I
can quickly look up any destination address I want, instantly plot a route
there, then follow it with the AGPS current location dot on the screen.

The 4 hour battery life on the Libretto has more than saved me from being
totally lost at night in unfamiliar locations, and having the friendly view
from above to pinpoint my location beats any paper map anyday!

The only thing I haven't found/built yet is a nice in-car Libretto holder on a
flexible arm so I can have the Libretto held open right in front of my stereo
as I drive. That way, I can simply glance at my in-car nav unit without having
to look down at the Libretto where it sits now between the seats.

Hm, and if I had that, the Libretto would also be a great wide-screen in-car
video player as well ;)

Anyone see one? I'd really like it if the mount could handle the Libretto
fully open 180 degrees vertically. that way, it could be completely flat and I
could easily access this flat unit easily while I drive, and it wouldn't stick
out much from the dash area at all.
