hello I put win 98 back on the libretto 70 to install gps as some folk on the list have done. I purchased a pcmcia gps card but cannot get any information from it. windows says that the card/driver is installed correctly. but I cannot get a peep out of it with hyperterminal or visualgps. I obviously want to see it working before I buy any software. It seems to be a problem with the ports whatever, which I don't understand. When inserted the gpscard shows up in device manager under ports along with communications port ecp printer port and virtual infrared com and lpt port. I've tried various things including removing the infra red and printer ports in the bios. If I set visualgps to com1 it does not complain although there seems to be a window that flashes by too quickly to read. Then there is no data eg signal strength or anything from the card. If I then try another com port I get a message "communication port not found." If I then go back to com1 I get a message "Access denied comunications port may be in use". If I try to use card with hyperterminal with a com1 hyperterminal says it is connected but there is no data coming from the card. I have no idea the relationship between com port and pcmcia device or how to get this to work. I doubt that the card is defective and think it is the set up. Can anybody help ? mick ************************************************************** http://libretto.basiclink.com - Libretto mailing list http://www.silverace.com/libretto/ - Archives -------TO UNSUBSCRIBE------- Reply to any of the list messages.
