Here, I recently had the L110, iBook 900Mhz G3 combo, and eMachines M5310 all at once. Basically, iBook went back on eBay, everything else stayed. Reasons? L110 is more portable, lighter and more mobile than the iBook. With the optiview plastic film screen enhancement applied, the screen is more contrasty and easier to read than the iBook. 2lbs vs. 5lbs is a world of difference!, and same killer ~4 hour runtimes. eMachines M5310 has an even better screen than both, and with the 15.4" widescreen and low price (recently, just $600 AR at www.bestbuy.com for the M5307 model), a killer notebook with 2.4Ghz equivalent processor. It's almost like what Toshiba would make if they'd upsized a Libretto - same solid feel, same nice touch, etc. iBook? Despite the 900Mhz speed, the IBM Thinkpad T21 750Mhz PIII runs faster! IE, wordprocessing, etc. general apps all launch faster and run snappier. (and that's a 4GB HD in the IBM vs. the 40GB in the G3) Naturally, anyone who's run BSD on IBM's know what kind of performance slowdown exists on any PC running UNIX-derivatives. ---- In the end, L110 runs everything basic - email, pictures, GPS navigation, etc. The perfect little notebook for all of that and super-portable, and the only laptop I use on the go on trip to take and upload pictures and do email remotely (eg. if you get the $29.99/mo unlimited TMobile internet service and ~$80 Merlin G100 GPRS PCMCIA card, you can go online anywhere you've got cell coverage!) M5310 for the big things - program coding, photoshop editing, wide-screen DVD playback ;)= Finally, any WAP phone or the Treo 600 for mobile info access on the go. THe Treo 600 can almost replace the L110 for just about everything - word, excel, powerpoint, pictures, web, email, etc. - and it's the killer replacement for a power user. I'd wait to see what TMobile's pricing is going to be - usually they've got the lowest prices around. Otherwise, $250 + Sprint service at amazon.com today. ===== adorable toshiba libretto The latest news and information for the Toshiba Libretto owner. http://www.silverace.com/libretto/ __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
