Soon I will attempt the installation of the AR film on my L100's LCD panel.
I've elected to remove the mask and apply it to the entire panel. One reason
is that I can repair a broken latch at the same time with the mask off.
Has anyone removed the mask? Has anyone replaced a latch? If yes to either,
do you have time to go through a short procedure for me? I ran a quick
archive search, but didn't turn up enough detail. I'm hesitant to reinvent the
wheel if someone can save me from it. Thanks.

I can answer the question on pulling off the mask. But I took a look at an old lid for my L50, and for the life of me can't figure out how those latches come off. Maybe having the replacement in your hands will give you a clue. Let me know if you figure it out.
To remove the mask, first pull off the 2 sqaure sticky gray plastic screw covers. I originally did it with a skinny pointed exacto knife blade by sliding the point under the edge, and working it around the edge until I could enough of the flat edge under it. Then it lifts up pretty well. However when re-seated the LCD cable a few weeks ago, I tried the pin/needle approach. I don't know whether or not it was because I've had those covers off a few times or not, but it was really a lot easier using the pin. Maybe the adhesive has become less sticky after pulling it off a few times. If you get a lot of resistance with the pin, maybe the blade will go easier. Put the patches aside where the adhesive won't get dirty until you replace them, and remove the screws.
I developed my own process for removing the mask, and kind of relies on having fingernails long enough to get under the mask's inner edge. No nails? Maybe just wait a few days. :-) I start on the left edge, put my thumbs about 1/3 the distance from the top and bottom edges, and get the fingernails of my 1st and 2nd fingers on each hand under the inside edge that covers the LCD. Actually, I'll carefully put one 1st finger-nail under the very middle of the mask, and then lift a little. Then it's easy to get 3 more fingernails under it. Then pull upwards and back a little towards the out edge of the mask and the 3 latches on that edge should break loose.
WARNING: The thin strip of plastic on the face along the outer edge right beside the latch is >really< thin and easy to break. Both sides of my mask were broken off when I got my L100, so I don't know if my 'fingernail method' would present any problem there.
Then go around the corner and do the same for the 2 latches on the left half of the top edge. Looking at the positions of the latches on section 4-21 of the manual may help. Then do the same for the 2 latches on the right side of the top edge, and then the 3 latches on right edge should go easily. At that point it seems the 3 latches on the bottom edge just popped off pretty easily by carefully lifting the whole mask away from the top edge the lid, like opening a clam shell.
While you're in there, you may want to try re-seating your LCD cable if you have that stripe on your screen. I wish I know a little more about what causes it because, as I've written, it still appears from time to time. At this point the stripe wil frequently disappear by pushing the lid backwards. But it seems it's only a matter of time before it'll be a permanent fixture again. Maybe some contact cleaner?
