I guess it depends ... if you're going to be using firewire on your libretto (through a firewire PCMCIA card) then the point is moot - the bottleneck is still there (you're still going through the PCMCIA interface). That plus from what I understand, the PCMCIA interface, at a hardware level, is at least as fast, if not faster than your hard drive anyway. However if you're using another laptop then it's a different story. I have a friend with a Dell notebook who gets faster transfer rates off a firewire hard disk pack (7200rpm desktop hard disk) than off his laptop's internal hard disk, for instance. Then again you'll need the really expensive high speed professional CF cards to get that sorta speed anyway - if I'm not mistaken your average run-of-the-mill CF card is slower than the PCMCIA interface to begin with. - Raymond Quoting Matt Hanson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: > Date: Tue, 16 Mar 2004 05:55:28 +0000 > From: "Matt Hanson" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Subject: Transfer speeds revisited but again - Firewire > > I'm contemplating going firewire for loading MP3s onto CF cards.
